Plenty of Late Summer Vegetable Choices
Late Summer Choices

We will all have a great treat this Saturday when Gamekeeper Chef Sam Easley will offer a cooking demonstration using local produce from the market.

This Saturday Sunshine Cove will have microgreens, cherry tomatoes, and Anaheim Sahuaro peppers. Zydeco Moon Organic Farm will have juicy red ripe raspberries, heirloom tomatoes, snow peas, fingerling potatoes, okra and beautiful red and orange peppers. Ripshin Goat Dairy will have goat milk feta cheese, we know some of you have been waiting a long time for this.

Fall is just around the corner at Faith Mountain Farm where they hope to harvest some spaghetti and butternut squash soon. Pick up some whole grain bread and local honey and granola to provide a nice breakfast treat for you and your family during the week. Sunflowers and zinnias will brighten your home with their beautiful colors. You can also check out this Saturdays great bread puddings at Lulu's Sweet and Savory.

Shady Grove Gardens will have seedless burpless cucumbers along with pickling cucumbers. For fall planting there will be hardy perennial mums, Boltonia white Aster and Sweet Autumn white Clematis and for cut flowers colorful gladiolas, dahlias and zinnias.

The Pasta Wench

Vendor of the week: The Pasta Wench
Andrea Morrell delights us every week with an ever expanding selection of tasty and creative pasta flavors.

Squash Of All Ages

Blue Ridge Apiaries will be bringing to market on Saturday a new crop of Sourwood Honey, Wildflower Honey, Infused Honey, and Creamed Honey. Pasta Wench will have some great seasonal specialty ravioli this week like Butternut Squash with Carmelized Pear and Garlic, and Pumpkin Sage.

Tom Wooten, master blacksmith of Fiddler Forge, offers elegant hand-forged creations for garden lovers. His artistically unique hanging planters and bird feeders are made using mixed metals of solid steel, copper and bronze. All are forged in fire using traditional blacksmithing techniques with utmost attention to detail. He has a variety of both ornate and functional styles and sizes to choose from with matching brackets for hanging, as well as custom-order plant stands, cabin tables, and his new whirligig wind vane.

Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center

Meetings and functions of the Watauga County Farmers' Market are often held at the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center. The map to the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center may be of help. This indicates the actual entrance to the Conference Center off Poplar Grove Road, not the main entrance to the Cooperative Extension Office on King Street.
