Watauga County Farmers' Market
Saturday Morning September 24
The Blue Ridge area has been enjoying some well needed rain lately but the forecasters say Saturday will be the turning point toward nicer weather. Lucky shoppers will be able to choose between the last of the summer's tomatoes and peppers and a bounty of fall pumpkins and apples.
Zydeco Moon Organic Farm will have a sweet crop of new broccoli, braising mix of mustard, chard and kale, heirloom tomatoes, spicy mustard mix and mixed lettuce. Ripshin Goat Dairy will offer a new product on Saturday, September 24th, our plain goat chevre aged a little and rolled into logs for slicing. Customers have been asking for this, so here it is.
Shady Grove Gardens & Nursery will be bringing fresh and preserved Hydrangeas, extra large yellow onions, white lilies and bulbs and beautiful bright dahlias. Blue Ridge Apiaries still has plenty of sourwood honey, as well as wildflower, infused, and creamed honeys.
Faith Mountain Farm will supply sourwood honey, comb honey, spring honey, chocolate cashew butter, sunflowers, zinnias, granola, pumpkin muffin, blueberry muffin, whole grain bread, chewy balls, and more. Pasta Wench has great seasonal pumpkin sage ravioli you don't want to miss along with fresh basil and other herbs to make the perfect sauce to go with her dried pasta.
Vendor of the week: Todd McNeil
Todd McNeil is the man to talk to if you want some fine Moravian chicken pies or some farm fresh eggs.
